Nike Dunk Low “Wonka”
An actor with dual American and French citizenship, Timothée Hal Chalamet has played a significant role in the design of new shoes and has been recognized with numerous accolades, securing nominations for an Academy Award, two Golden Globe Awards, and three BAFTA Film Awards.
Upon a quick observation, this particular shoe distinguishes itself from the plethora of Nike Dunks dominating the footwear scene in the past four years. A closer look reveals the distinctiveness of this pair, a fact not surprising given its limited production to just five pairs. The "Wonka" Dunks are presented in a simple yet sturdy wooden box. Inside, a plush shoe bag adorned with an elaborate "W" logo encases the sneakers. The upper part of the shoe features a playful pattern in a blend of purple, burgundy, and blue tones, seemingly applied with a crayon. This contrasts with the more refined and intricate profile swooshes, laces, tongues, top eyelets, and inner lining, all of which pay a conspicuous homage to Wonka's suit.
Chalamet remarked in his interview with Complex, "It's unlike any pair of Dunks I've ever come across. I was uncertain about the outcome, but they absolutely nailed it." According to the interview, Chalamet drew inspiration for the pair from Nike SB's iconic "What the Dunk" and the layering seen in various Sacai x Nike collaborations.
